Businesses flocking to downtown CG

CASA GRANDE — The historic downtown area of Casa Grande is going through a mini-renaissance with a number of new businesses opening up and established businesses expanding or relocating in the area.

Renovation work for The Terminal property at 318 N. Florence St., next to Food City, continues at a steady pace and once finished will feature a restaurant, brew pub and retail options.

PinalCentral spoke to four small business owners on Thursday and the recurring theme with them is that downtown is the place they and their customers want to be.

Mike Buhr, who recently opened a new firearms, ammo and accessories store at 112 W. Second St., titled Buhrs Boomsticks & Sporting Equipment, told PinalCentral he couldn’t be happier running his store downtown.

“I came into this area because I prefer the nostalgic old town areas,” said Buhr. “Usually in the smaller towns people are friendlier. They’re more of a local purchase, they keep their money local and I agree with that — I prefer to keep my money nearby. I don’t send it somewhere else.”
