Busy CG airport receiving needed upgrades

By Jodie Newell | Pinal Central

CASA GRANDE — Casa Grande Municipal Airport Manager Dave Reffner said the airport has never been busier, with some 125,000 flight operations per year. Increased private jet activity for Casa Grande is on the rise, representing 8% of the total.

With that increased traffic Reffner said having quality airport facilities and infrastructure is key and in recent weeks the airport has been undergoing a number upgrades.

Much-needed improvements for the airport’s west apron and taxiway Echo will be carried out in the coming weeks, funded by the Arizona Department of Transportation’s airport pavement management program.

“APM is a really good program through ADOT where they actually fund 100% of the design, so there’s no cost to the city for the design work. When we get to construction the city is responsible for 10% of construction and then ADOT will pay 90% of the construction costs,” Reffner said.
