About a year after reacquiring his job on a full time basis, Scottsdale City Manager Jim Thompson could be leaving — for real this time.
Thompson sent an email to the city council Sept. 27 informing them he is one of two finalists for the city manager position in Loveland, Colorado.
Thompson will attend a meet-and-greet for the two finalists Oct. 2 in Loveland. He is up against Bob Cowell Jr., the former city manager of Roanoke, Virginia, according to a press release from the city of Loveland.
Loveland is a city of about 76,000 people about 45 miles north of Denver.
“I am confirming what has been reported in Colorado — that I am a finalist for the job as city manager in the city of Loveland,” Thompson wrote in a statement.
“My time in Scottsdale has been the favorite part of my long career. I love our staff and this community -— our culture and organization is the best I’ve ever worked with, and I am consistently impressed with the dedication of our mayor and city council members.
