WM Phoenix Open organizers plan big changes

To address myriad issues that arose during the 2024 WM Phoenix Open, the Thunderbirds – the organization that hosts the professional golf tournament – has made several changes to the ticketing policy, layout and infrastructure of the annual PGA Tour stop in Scottsdale.

The most recent WMPO coincided with one of the rainiest weeks of 2024, which did not deter fans from coming, but led to muddy conditions and large crowds congregating in bottleneck areas at the TPC Scottsdale golf course. To keep things from escalating, the tournament paused alcohol sales and stopped admitting spectators at one point – decisions that were unpopular with those in attendance and those trying to get in.
