Rick Buss has stepped down from his position of assistant city manager at the city of Peoria — a position created specifically for him less than two years ago.

He submitted a letter of resignation dated Oct. 24 that provided no details for his reasons for leaving. However, records show Buss has secondary employment that had not been approved by city officials, which would have been a violation of Peoria regulations.

Peoria Independent reached out to Buss for comment, but he did not respond.

Buss has worked in public service for more than 15 years, including twice at Peoria. The first time ended when he was fired while working under former Mayor Cathy Carlat.

The Arizona Department of Real Estate lists Buss as a certified real estate agent with Peoria-based Avery Properties, where Peoria Planning Commission Chair Tony Feiter serves as the licensed broker.
