Chandler’s mayor was recently honored for his role in helping make a major transportation project happen.

Kevin Hartke was honored at the Dec. 9 Chandler City Council regular meeting for his work in supporting the effort to get I-10 corridor widening funded.

Recently term-limited Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland, along with Irene Higgs, director of the Sun Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization, were on hand to make the presentation.

Hartke has served with the Maricopa Association of Governments for much of his six years as Chandler mayor and is on MAG’s Regional Council through this coming June. MAG undertakes much highway development planning in the Valley.

He’s also the president of the Arizona League of Cities and Towns’ Executive Committee through late 2026. The League advocates for funding for transportation projects.
