Heliogen’s Lancaster facility.

At the Dec. 16 Board of Supervisors’ meeting, Board Chairman Duce Minor announced that Heliogen had withdrawn their application for a rezoning of 3,300 they lease from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Heliogen, a California-based energy company, wanted to construct a Concentrated Solar Power facility on the site.

The withdrawal was made on Thursday, Dec. 12.  The County Planning & Zoning Commission voted to recommend denial of Heliogen’s request at their Dec. 5 meeting, with Commission Vice Chair Richard Trusty called for a “resounding” recommendation.

The Supervisor had been scheduled to vote on Heliogen’s requests at the Dec. 16 meeting. Minor remarked the matter was being pulled from the agenda because, with the withdrawal, there was no application pending and nothing for the Supervisors to vote on.
