A long-dormant half of a major Chandler corner shopping center appears finally on its way to redevelopment.
Sun Village Fair is about half of a 20.46-acre center on the northeast corner of Alma School and Warner roads in north-central Chandler. While Walmart and other shops and stores have held down one half of the shared parking lot, the shell of what was a Fry’s grocery that closed about 13 years ago has long been a gap on the west half of the lot.
This month, a banner advertising retail space and significant activity on-site show Sun Village Fair is on its way to at least using the Fry’s former grocery part of the indoor space.
Chandler’s planning administrator, Kevin Mayo, told the Chandler Independent that there are currently two applications in process with the city’s Development Services.
