The Agua Fria High School District Governing Board approved a project bringing arts to the community.

The Arts Academy and Performing Arts Center will be a state-of-the-art high school and performance venue at Litchfield and Camelback roads.

They sit on the historic La Loma hilltop designated by the Litchfield family in the 1920s for arts and cultural purposes.

This initiative aims to revitalize the area, establishing it as a community hub for artistic expression and engagement.

“For many years, I’ve been working on building up the development situation, so the city is sustainable,” said Litchfield Park Mayor Thomas Schoaf.

“We have the property because the Litchfield family wanted to make sure the property was used in a way that was consistent with what Paul Litchfield envisioned back in the 1920s — a cultural and performing arts area. It’s always been a cultural center, so the challenge was how we could bring it back.”

Set to open in August 2026, the new high school will offer a robust curriculum centered on visual and performing arts.
