Maricopa could be getting its own version of Fat Cats

A “mecca of family entertainment” is headed for Maricopa.

Scott Bartle, a former Maricopa resident, wants to build an indoor-outdoor family entertainment center near Copper Sky Regional Park, according to public records released to InMaricopa Tuesday.

A project narrative submitted to the city’s planning department last week detailed plans to “help satisfy a decades-long need” for Maricopa by creating a 2.5-acre family entertainment center, which would include miniature golf, duckpin bowling, an arcade and ropes course and a café in phase one; bumper boats and go-karts in phase two.

Currently, the entertainment landscape for families in Maricopa is barren. Families typically have to commute to Tempe, Chandler or Mesa for similar entertainment options.

It’s something Bartle said he hopes to correct in the coming months.
