What is DeepSeek? The Chinese-based AI app was trained for only $60 million-dollars in 2 months, compared to a fraction of the cost for creating other modern large language models like Chat GPT. There are a lot of reasons to be suspect, but there’s no question it costs a lot less and takes less time and energy to train the program, representing a huge advancement in the technology. Being open source, DeepSeek also released resources to allow other software developers to create their own models or enhance the efficiency of their softwares. However, there are data privacy, security and censorship concerns.
