Future of downtown movie houses dim in Chandler

By Ken Sain | Arizona Chandler

Mayor Kevin Hartke says he still hopes a movie theater can succeed in downtown Chandler, but the evidence to date does not support that outlook after the landlord of the LOOK Dine-In Cinema building locked their tenant out on Feb. 3, essentially forcing it to close.

Can a movie theater find success in downtown Chandler?

“That’s a good question,” Hartke said. “I certainly think we have room for entertainment. The first one kind of died because of COVID. The second one, I don’t know why. I’m an optimist, I would like to say I hope so.”

“Our Chandler theater has been a cherished part of the community. We are grateful to our dedicated team members and to our loyal guests who have supported us throughout the years,” stated Brian Schultz, CEO of LOOK Dine-In Cinemas.
