Assistant City Manager Scott Butler says he expects to continue the conservative fiscal policy, innovation and technology and investment in public safety that have guided Mesa under his boss.
Council is expected Monday to confirm Butler as Mesa’s next city manager. City Manager Chris Brady is retiring May 31 after 19 years of overseeing the day-to-day operations.
“I think it’s very important that our city manager has foundational and institutional knowledge of our community, and I think that’s why, as a council, we’ve moved forward to recommend Mr. Butler to that position,” Mayor Mark Freeman said at the Feb. 27 study session. “It’s a very heavy position (with) 4,500 employees.
