Taser and body camera maker Axon Enterprise Inc. is supporting a new bill as part of a nearly four-month legislative campaign to bring its $1.3 billion Scottsdale headquarters project to fruition.
An amended bill that would expand rights for some areas zoned for light industrial uses was passed by an 8-0 vote on Wednesday by the Arizona House of Representative’s Committee on International Trade. If ultimately approved, the bill could allow Axon to proceed with its ambitious headquarters campus and sidestep a Scottsdale referendum effort that spun up in opposition to the nearly 1,900 residential units planned at the site.
