There was a time not so long ago when households in the Valley’s two largest cities could comfortably achieve the American Dream for less than $100,000 per year.
Those days are apparently gone.
A new analysis from Gobankingrates.com found that Phoenix households need an annual income of $131,900 and Mesa households need a slightly lower annual income of $130,947 to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. The report ranked the nation’s 50 largest cities from most expensive to least, with Phoenix and Mesa coming in just above the midpoint at Nos. 22 and 24, respectively.
