“It’s an exciting time to live in Maricopa County. Our economy is strong and getting stronger, and companies like TSMC are making major, unprecedented investments in our region and our people. As Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, I believe the County’s role is to create a business and regulatory environment that allows cutting-edge companies to bring their ideas here, to hire skilled workers who were trained and live here, and to produce the products that make lives across Maricopa County and our entire country better.
The Maricopa County Workforce Development Board (MCWDB) plays a critical role in this effort. Today, my colleagues and I appointed three new members to the Workforce Development Board to ensure that, as a region, we’re ready for growth in manufacturing, construction, and other in-demand industries. I’m thrilled we can provide a fresh infusion of industry expertise, including a representative from TSMC, to help the MCWDB build on its recent successes in training the workforce of the future.
Coupled with a thorough review of our decades-old zoning code, the upcoming hiring of the county’s first-ever economic development advocate, and the incredible individual support provided every day by Human Services staff in the Workforce Development Division, Maricopa County is not just talking about an economy that works for everyone, but taking action to make it a reality. That’s regional leadership. And that’s what is going to ensure Maricopa County is synonymous with American prosperity for years to come.”
