This may come as a surprise to many, but the Central Arizona College Signal Peak Campus is not in Coolidge. It has a Coolidge address, but the campus has not been a part of any municipality since its founding in 1969, although that may change later this year.
The Coolidge City Council on Monday held a public hearing regarding the annexation of the campus into Coolidge city limits. There was no participation from the public. City Manager Gilbert Lopez, who is also on the CAC Governing Board, answered questions as did CAC Executive Director of Career and Workforce Training Andrew Clegg.
“Most people think (the campus) is already in the city because of the addressing,” Lopez said. “The college has been (here) fifty (plus) years in the community, a lot of us have gone to the school and got our degrees.”
