CG moves to ensure public input remains despite change to planning approvals

The city plans to be proactive in ensuring public input in the development process is maintained despite a new state law that streamlines it.

House Bill 2447, signed recently by Gov. Katie Hobbs, requires the legislative body of a city or town to authorize administrative personnel to review and approve development plans without a public hearing. That legislation is slated to take effect on Dec. 31.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, staff spoke about the city’s response to the new legislation. City Manager Larry Rains said Casa Grande had been anticipating the proposed changes and had acted accordingly.
