Popular restaurant breaks ground in downtown Peoria

A big step toward what officials see as the revitalization of downtown Peoria has been set in motion.

The city broke ground April 1 on Caldwell County BBQ, the third location of this Texas-style barbecue restaurant, at 8315 W. Washington Street.

The $7 million project is set to open in early 2026, followed by the Jefferson House, a unique gathering place for events, food, drink and retail. City officials say they believe these additions will breathe new life into the area.
