ARIZONA CITY — Eloy Mayor Andrew Sutton spoke to Arizona City residents last week in good neighborly fashion about a mutual neighbor: a new solar farm.
That solar farm, the 936-acre Poblano Solar farm, was approved by the Eloy City Council on March 24. But that approval came after months of negotiation to modify the initial area of Poblano Solar, which initially would have brushed arms with the residents of Arizona City. A buffer was approved.
“But when we, as neighbors, when we saw the original plan for this solar, it was right up against the roadway with the houses, it was right there,” Sutton told the Arizona City Chamber of Commerce. “And we said no.”
