Via the Town of Gilbert

The Gilbert Town Council unanimously approved a comprehensive update to its development services fees, marking the first significant overhaul of the fee structure in more than two decades.
The revised fees, which take effect July 1, are aimed at ensuring that “growth pays for growth” and taxpayers are not burdened with the costs of new development.
The changes stem from a fee study initiated following direction from the council during its spring 2024 financial retreat. The study reviewed the town’s use of the International Code Council valuation table, last updated in Gilbert in 1999, as well as the methodology for calculating building permit and plan review fees.
“The intent of the fees has always been the growth pays for growth and that the taxpayers or the citizens are not burdened with the development costs of that development,” Development Services Director Kyle Mieras said.
