New CG budget has infrastructure emphasis

City councilmembers recently approved a tentative budget for the 2026 fiscal year totaling $387.6 million, including planned infrastructure updates for a growing city.

Ahead are a public hearing, truth-in-taxation hearing and final adoption dates for the budget and tax levy.

“We are working on some element of the budget throughout the entire year,” City Manager Larry Rains told PinalCentral, adding that it is the 28th year in a row the city will be receiving an award for its budget work from the Government Finance Officers Association. “While the work really intensifies as we prepare for the adoption of the new year’s budget, in the background there are our team and staff working to make what ultimately is our final budget that gets posted on the website that is available for our residents’ consumption.
