Chandler commits funds for solar installations

PHOENIX — Officials in Chandler hope to harness solar energy to help power various public facilities.

The city recently entered into a partnership with energy company Ameresco, Inc. to install solar panels across 23 city facilities, including rooftops, parking areas, fire stations, libraries and even city hall.

Although the solar panels come with 25-year warranties, they’re expected to work for up to 35 years.

Officials expect construction of the solar panels to be complete by 2026.
