The Higley Unified School District Governing Board has approved a ballot measure that will give it the right to choose what to do with an 18.8-acre parcel of land it owns.
If voters approve the measure, the district will then decide from three options: sell the land, exchange it for Town of Gilbert property or lease it long-term. The board voted 4-1 to approve the measure with member Anna Van Hoek dissenting.
The board action means voters within Higley’s district boundaries will now have two measures on the mail-in ballot because the district will again seek approval of a 15% operating budget override.
