Development Services Director James Myers and Senior Planner Phil Garthright presented proposed zoning fee changes to the Planning and Zoning Commission last week, designed to bring the city of Coolidge more in-line with other jurisdictions and address some sore spots with the current fee structure.
These fees particularly cover the preliminary plat (subdividing land into lots) extension fee and planned area development major amendment fee, which recent feedback from applicants and developers suggested are “higher than those of similar jurisdictions and potentially created a disincentive for growth and investment.”
“These are two of the kinds of applications we do get quite a bit of and we will be getting more of these in the coming months and years,” said Garthright. “It was very appropriate for us to get out in front of this and actually define a specific fee for the preliminary plan and the major amendment.”
