Zuckerberg detailed the company’s AI infrastructure push on its Threads platform Monday, saying the company — the parent of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp — will build “several” multiple-gigawatt data center clusters in addition to the two AI megacampuses it already has in development.
He framed the planned data center build-out as part of an effort to win the AI arms race against competitors like OpenAI, Amazon and Google.
“For our superintelligence effort, I’m focused on building the most elite and talent-dense team in the industry,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post. “We’re also going to invest hundreds of billions of dollars into compute to build superintelligence. We have the capital from our business to do this.”
