A new approach to affordable housing in Phoenix is getting an increase in funding after all.
The Senior Bridge project, which will use shipping containers to construct affordable housing for seniors, was planned to get $3 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds from the city of Phoenix in addition to $6 million from Maricopa County. In recent months, the city decided not to use those funds on the project but has found alternative funding.
The Phoenix Community Development and Investment Corp. is replacing that $3 million in funding to bring the project funding back up to just above $9 million. City council approved an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement during its July 2 meeting.
