A Tempe-based startup that manufactures solar cells for use in space missions said Wednesday that it has landed a $1.2 million contract to develop a new product for the U.S. Space Force.

Under the deal, Solestial said it will optimize its low-mass, radiation-hardened silicon solar cells and solar power modules as it develops, builds and tests a new multiorbital solar array wing for small satellites as well as develop new module electrical interconnectors.
