There have been pushes to make San Tan Valley a city before, but none of those have made it as far as the current one. If this effort fails, residents shouldn’t expect another one for a long time, if ever.
The upcoming election ending on Aug. 5 is the result of more than two years of sometimes difficult work, committee Chairman Tyler Hudgins told a small group assembled for the committee’s last public meeting Monday night.
If the majority vote is no, another group is unlikely to start it all over again, he said. “I’m not doing it, and I don’t think any of us are going to do it. Good luck to anybody who wants to. … I think it effectively kills incorporation for a very, very long time, perhaps forever.”
