Arizona braces for impact as tariffs hit home construction materials, appliances and more

President Donald Trump’s historic new tariffs are officially in effect. This impacts dozens of America’s trading partners, and raises import taxes to the highest level since the Great Depression… (cont.)

According to the National Association of Home Builders, the President’s tariff plan is making building materials, like softwood lumber and distribution transformers, more expensive. As a result, it’s costing people more to construct homes. This is making houses less affordable. 

Most imports into the United States will now face a 10% tariff. 

This will impact things, like appliances made in the European Union, and TV’s from South Korea. 

What’s not affected: select oil and gas imports, some smartphones and goods covered by a trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.
