At last week’s open house, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona welcomed eight potential families to apply for the newly completed home on Mystery Drive in Arizona City after the previous family in line to own the house dropped out of the program.
The previous family was in line to receive the home once it was completed but dropped out of the program for undisclosed reasons. They were living in a Phoenix apartment with high rent and only one working bathroom. Now, five of the eight families who toured the house on Aug. 7 have applied to be the owners.
The housing organization, which operates through national and worldwide affiliates, uses an array of volunteers, sponsors, and government funding to provide homes to those who need them. The 1,596-square-foot home in Arizona City was confirmed in June 2024 by Dusty Parsons, chief marketing officer for Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona. Parsons said HHCA had previously built a home in Arizona City in August of 2023.
