Prescott council makes decision on Whiskey Row project

The Prescott City Council voted to deny the proposed Plaza Hotel on Whiskey Row at a special meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

After much discussion and more than 35 public comments, Mayor Phil Goode moved to deny the application. The vote passed 4-2 with council members Goode, Lois Fruhwirth, Brandon Montoya and Eric Moore voting for the denial. Mayor Pro Tem Connie Cantelme and Councilman Ted Gambogi voted against the denial.

Councilman Patrick Grady was absent and excused from the meeting.

Ahead of the vote, the meeting included a presentation from Prescott Planning Manager Alex Bramlette, a presentation from architect Doug Stroh, and a statement from Goldwater Institute attorney Jon Riches on behalf of developer Jim Griset.
