CASA GRANDE — Outdoor enthusiast and regular user of the Casa Grande Mountain Park trails Kent Taylor said he’s concerned that the possibility of housing developments in the park area could become a reality.
Taylor, who has been involved in several community projects to maintain the trails on CG Mountain and was Pinal County’s open space and trails director before retirement, told PinalCentral it is imperative that the land remain in public hands for future generations.
“The trails are important most definitely, but preserving and protecting that extra 300 acres is more than just trails,” Taylor said. “It’s about increasing the acreage of the park by a third and protecting and preserving the plants, animals and biodiversity in the area. It also creates additional outdoor recreation opportunities. I think it’s very important and I firmly believe that it shouldn’t be for sale at any cost.”
