City staff opposes data center proposal

Chandler’s vision for its tech corridor clashes with a developer’s proposal, as city officials weigh the future of a long-vacant property.

A developer wants to revamp a 40-acre site on Price Road in Chandler with a new data center and other property additions. City staff, however, say the project does not meet the requirements of the established vision for this part of the city.

The developer, New York-based Active Infrastructure, has requested a rezoning of the site that city staff has recommended that Chandler City Council should deny.

The firm has proposed construction of a new 422,000-square-foot data center and five buildings for offices, research and development and more in the South Price Road Corridor, a major employment hub in the city. The project is titled the Price Road Innovation Campus, city documents show.
