City and county leaders gathered Tuesday morning to break ground on Litchfield Park’s new $5 million public library, a project officials say will transform the city’s cultural landscape and serve residents for generations to come.
The 10,000-square-foot library will be built at 5390 N. Litchfield Road, near the historic La Loma hilltop. The new facility, expected to open in fall 2026, will replace the existing library on Wigwam Boulevard, which was built in 1979.
“This is not just about constructing a building, it’s about building opportunity, creativity and community,” said Debbie Lesko, Maricopa County District 4 supervisor, who spoke at the event alongside city officials and project partners.
