The city of Peoria unveiled its new water plan for the next decade, including a new billion-dollar facility to ensure the city can meet its water needs.
Water security has been one of Mayor Jason Beck’s main pillars of the city since his election. Beck has instituted numerous plans to help bolster the city’s water supply in the present day, and in the future.
In a city council meeting on Sept. 16, city engineers said their focus would be on “water reclamation.” This is the process of turning wastewater into clean water through extensive purification.
