Did you know that around 40% of newly diagnosed cancers in US adults could be prevented (excluding non- melanoma skin cancer)? Your cancer risk depends on several factors, including some that can be controlled or modified to help decrease cancer risk. You can lower your risk by making this lifestyle changes such as tobacco use, diet, physical activity, body weight, HPV vaccination, and sun and UV protection. However, there are also risk factors that you can’t control or modify, such as age and family history. Therefore, getting recommended cancer screening tests regularly can help you increase the chances of detecting certain cancers early, before cancer has a chance to spread or might be easier to treat.
Take 5-10 minutes to complete the ACS CancerRisk360 (http://www.cancer.org/azCEOs360) assessment to learn more about what you can change to improve your health and lower your cancer risk.
