Vape smokers may be fined $100 if caught near Scottsdale schools

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The City of Scottsdale has expanded the scope of its smoking ordinance to ban the presence of electronic smoking devices in certain areas.

Last month, the city council adopted an ordinance that replaces Scottsdale’s policies for how residents can smoke in public places. The updated ordinance expands restrictions to include e-cigarettes and vape pens.

“By including electronic smoking devices in the city’s definition of smoking, we are closing gaps in the law and providing clear protections for residents and visitors,” interim City Attorney Luis Santaella said in a statement.
