The city of Avondale recently unveiled its Civic Center Park to the community. After less than a year of construction, the dirt lot that residents knew previously has transformed into a recreational space with grass fields, soon-to-be shade trees, a playground and various seating areas.
“It seems like just yesterday that council and I were tossing some dirt somewhere in this area and here we are today,” said Mayor Mike Pineda. “We look forward to seeing the Avondale community enjoy this park and can’t wait to see the positive impact it will bring.”
Engineering Department Director Kimberly Moon echoed the sentiment, also noting the speed of the project.
“Before the park, we had some city property that had always been planned for a Park facility, so it’s nice to see it come to fruition,” she said. “The construction has taken less than a year, so it went pretty quickly. We wanted to activate the library and bring more activities to the whole Civic Center complex.
