Carefree officials push back against new Arizona law

The Town of Carefree Planning and Zoning Commission held a meeting Nov. 10 to discuss House Bill 2447, which requires municipalities to designate an administrator to review and approve plans without public input. This bill was approved by Gov. Katie Hobbs on March 31 and will go into effect Dec. 31.

For the Town of Carefree, this designated person would be Planning Director and Zoning Administrator Stacey Bridge-Denzak.

In addition, the bill puts an expedited review process into place for those in good standing with code and allows at-risk submittals for infrastructure work.
