ELOY — The City Council denied a solar project’s acreage expansion but approved a continuance for a year to see whether more acreage opens up to keep total projects under the city’s cap.
Andrew Yancey, attorney with Bergin, Frakes, Smalley & Oberholtzer, brought the presentation to the council, representing Longroad Energy Holdings LLC.
He returned to the council meeting on Oct. 27 with the Poblano Solar Project, approved earlier this year in March. They requested a conditional use permit to allow an 80-acre expansion for the utility-scale solar energy generation.
Eloy’s Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval at its meeting earlier in October.
