MAGA ‘flexing their muscle’ in Arizona recall election?

PHOENIX — A city council recall election amounting to political payback was a success on Tuesday night. Mesa City Councilwoman Julie Spilsbury lost her vigorous bid to retain her seat after Arizona-based Turning Point USA supported the recall and funded Spilsbury’s opponent.

Spilsbury, a second-term Republican serving on the nonpartisan council, joined a list of Arizona Republicans last year who endorsed Kamala Harris over Trump. Turning Point Action Chief Operating Officer Tyler Bowyer did not mince words recently, saying the recall happened because Spilsbury endorsed Harris in a heavily Trump-backed community and “it is proof when you betray voters, there are consequences.”

Spilsbury told 12News Tuesday night she did not believe she lost to her challenger, Republican Dorean Taylor, but rather to Turning Point.
