Tempe retirement community starts construction on new phase

By AZ Big Media

Construction is underway on the third phase of a master planned renovation on the 50-acre campus of Friendship Village Tempe. An existing structure will be removed to make room for a new five-story,175,900-square-foot building, which is being designed and built by Ryan Companies US, Inc., developed by LCS Development, and upon completion, managed by LCS.

“We’re thrilled to bring phase three of our campus master plan to life after several months of thoughtful planning and design,” said Cole Marvin, executive director, Friendship Village Tempe. “The response from prospective residents has been phenomenal as we’re already well over halfway sold in just five months of sales. This phase truly embodies our mission to make Friendship Village Tempe the most fun, vibrant senior living community to live at in the country.”

The third phase will include 69 independent living apartments, two guest suites and below-grade parking. The one and two-bedroom residences range from 909 square feet to a penthouse option that is 2,396 square feet. Several amenities, including the reimagined Del Fuego restaurant and lounge, featuring duckpin bowling lanes, will be located on the fifth floor. Residents will also have access to a specially designed spa and clinic space, in addition to club rooms and a group exercise area. The building will provide accessibility to the first two buildings constructed as part of the revitalization, which include rooftop pickleball courts and Starfire, a full-service rooftop restaurant and microbrewery available to residents.
