Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said her office is suing the Trump administration to stop it from completely defunding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). It’s an agency that handles consumer complaints about banks, lenders and debt collectors.
According to Mayes, the Bureau’s acting director refuses to ask for any money from the Federal Reserve.
Mayes said the CFPB could lose all of its funding as soon as January.
This could impact millions of people facing fraud, scams and those who need help with handling their finances.
