Council is scheduled Jan. 12 to consider adopting a strategic guide for future land-use decisions and economic growth along a 5-mile transit corridor in West Mesa.
The transit route, with potentially 11 transit nodes, would connect to the Tempe Streetcar and light rail and encompasses key destinations, including Mesa Riverview, the Asian District, Sloan Park and the downtown.
“This is not a plan for planning transit routes or infrastructure, any capital improvements,” said Rachel Phillips, assistant planning director at a recent council study session. “This is about land-use strategies around transit. It’s not specific to any one mode. It’s built to work with any sort of transit type.”
