COOLIDGE — Mike Cruz, manager of state public policy at Lucid Motors, took some time at the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce January luncheon to give “updates on what is happening at the Coolidge facility and company, give a general overview of behind the scenes at Lucid and talk a little bit about (their) growth plans for the year.”
Last year, fellow electric vehicle company Nikola filed for bankruptcy, and Lucid acquired some of its assets including the Coolidge facility. Now, that facility is Lucid’s hub for production logistics, outfitted for warehousing and logistics, as well as product validation.
“All new Lucid vehicles will be … engineered, tested and designed for pre-manufacture and pre-production at that (Coolidge) facility,” Cruz said. “Any new Lucid (vehicle) will be born in Coolidge and be made in Casa Grande … a lot of the engineering and innovation is happening in that facility, so we are proud to say that facility did not become an eyesore in the community but a rich spot for innovation, research and development, and design.”
