Most government officials say they want to increase the supply of middle housing in their communities. That includes Chandler, which has held several meetings on the topic.
Middle housing refers to homes that are more affordable, such as townhomes, duplexes, and cottage homes. The state is even passing laws to require cities to change zoning laws to allow for more middle housing.
One developer stepped forward to help, proposing to build 96 duplexes north of Willis Road, just east of McQueen.
The city rejected it.
