The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is going to be highlighted in a new 10-episode limited series called Desert Law, which is from A&E Television.
From deputy ride-alongs to glimpses inside the jail and dispatch center, viewers will have the chance to get an inside look at everything that has to do with the department.
“Every corner of this department, they were allowed access to. And I think you’ll see that,” said Sheriff Chris Nanos.
He said the department has previously worked with A&E, so when the network approached them with the opportunity to be the focus of this first season, they said yes.
Filming happened during the spring and summer and went into early fall.
“You get to sit there, front row seat, and watch and see,” Nanos said.
Cameramen had the chance to follow patrol deputies, the DUI unit, night detectives, search and rescue, and much more.
And beyond the transparency the show will offer the community, Nanos said he hopes that with it being shown nationally, it’ll help the department with recruitment.
