Local Woman-Owned Brewery Expands with Park-Adjacent Taproom Inspired by Community, Craft, and Connection
CHANDLER, Ariz. — Greenwood Brewing, the award-winning Phoenix-based, woman-owned craft brewery founded by Megan Greenwood, announced today that it will open a new location in Downtown Chandler later this year. The new taproom will be located at 55 N. Arizona Place in The AJ. Owned by retail real estate investment firm Asana Partners, The AJ is a 2,771 sq ft mixed-used destination surrounded by beautiful parks and community gathering spaces. The brewery will offer an indoor-outdoor experience designed to feel fresh, thoughtful, and welcoming.
Self-funded and among just three percent of U.S. brewing companies that are solely woman-owned, Greenwood Brewing has grown from a garage homebrewing project into one of the top 20 largest breweries in Arizona, operating a downtown Phoenix brewery, beer garden, and tasting room. The Chandler expansion marks a meaningful return to where Greenwood’s brewing journey first began.
“Greenwood Brewing opened in 2020, in the middle of COVID, and it wasn’t an easy place to start,” says founder Megan Greenwood. “Since then, Greenwood has grown into something I’m deeply proud of. Bringing our next chapter to Chandler, the city where my brewing journey began, feels incredibly meaningful, and I’m excited to serve this community in a thoughtful and welcoming way.”
Greenwood first moved to the Phoenix metro area in 2012 and lived in Chandler, just over a mile from the new location. It was there that a homebrew kit as a birthday gift sparked her passion for brewing. Within a year, Greenwood had built a fully functioning microbrewery in her garage, complete with up to seven beers available on tap in her kegerator.
The new Downtown Chandler location at The AJ is designed to seamlessly integrate into the surrounding park-filled environment. The space will feature three garage doors that open to the outdoors, reinforcing Greenwood’s signature indoor-outdoor feel. Guests can expect a curated beer and wine menu, including a thoughtfully developed wine program created in collaboration with a sommelier partner, along with light bites and take-away picnic baskets designed for enjoying Greenwood beers in nearby parks.

Greenwood Brewing is best known for its award-winning, approachable beers, including Inbloom Blueberry Wheat, Greenwood Light Lager, Warrior Hazy IPA, and Purpose Pilsner. The brewery has earned more than ten medals from the Arizona Craft Brewers Awards and was named 2025 Arizona Travel Award – Statewide Brewery of the Year.

Community impact remains at the core of Greenwood’s mission. The brewery partners with local artists and organizations and donates 20 percent of its annual profits to women- and family-focused nonprofits. Greenwood’s cans feature original artwork by a female artist inspired by Arizona’s desert flora and fauna, reflecting the brand’s thoughtful and intentional approach to brewing.
