Queen Creek approves funding for Harquahala water transport

By Janet Perez | Daily Independent

With the first payment made for Queen Creek’s Harquahala water purchase, the town is now turning to the infrastructure needed to get the water into the town.

At its Wednesday meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council voted to shift more than $19 million to pay for new water resource infrastructure, including service contracts.

“This $19.3 million was not included in the (fiscal year 2025-26) adopted budget. As a result, budget adjustments are necessary to create the necessary spending authority by eliminating and deferring road and other water projects included in the current budget,” according to a staff report.

The fund transfer was on the council’s consent agenda in which all items are dealt with through one motion and vote.
